We searched and searched but the village seemed deserted. 

The houses were small and white; they had no gardens and there were no fences. We imagined the inhabitants were concerned with the sea and hunting. 

Later we discovered that we were right. In a restaurant we saw a number of stuffed animal heads on the walls; and the menu offered a lot of nice sea food.
